Philips Display Components

Philips Display Components were re-organising their business processes to enable a distributed development of their products throughout their worldwide organisation.  Ken Tomlinson advised and assessed the feasibility, limitations, consequences and opportunities for the client to improve the creation and use of their technical product and process information throughout their worldwide organisation.

Acting in the role of Data Architect, Ken designed the project requirements to implement an enterprise-wide solution based on a commercial PDM Information Management System.  The solution including the new roles and responsibilities was prototyped and then further developed with Philips staff worldwide through a series of demonstrations and workshops.

Based on the results of the demonstrator workshops, Ken produced the project Requirements Specification and then worked closely, in a coaching role, during the system development with the software vendor (EDS-Unigraphics).

Ken then took on the role of project manager for the rollout of the initial global release of the system. In this role, Ken led a specialist team of technical experts (see South Pole Expedition).  The project resulted in the successful implementation of the solution being progressively rolled-out throughout the worldwide Philips organisation.
